Diversity and inclusion are core values for many organizations, but that isn’t always extended to health care benefits. According to the Human Rights Coalition, the number of U.S. employers adding transgender-inclusive health care coverage rose from only about 50 in 2009 to more than 800 in 2019.

Caring for the health of transgender employees requires long-term thinking, sensitivity, and a more comprehensive view of well-being.
