Yardley, Penn. (March 1, 2016) – StayWell, a leading provider of patient education, health engagement and population health management solutions, will collaborate with ShareWIK Media Group during HIMSS 2016 to present a new category of patient engagement videos, focusing on the patient and caregiver experience. Demonstrations of health entertainment content will be available at StayWell Booth #5234 during HIMSS. In addition to unveiling this new category in patient education, StayWell announced its intent to acquire ShareWIK.
Brad Lawson, chief growth officer at StayWell, said the acquisition of the Atlanta, GA-based health and wellness content creation and video production company comes at a transformative time for the patient education market.
“Patient engagement is being redefined from face-to-face encounters inside a hospital or clinic, to reaching patients and caregivers everyday via mobile and video platforms with content that is relevant, credible and entertaining,” Lawson said. “The collaboration with ShareWIK allows us to create a new category of credible health information that drives patient engagement in a way that is easy and enjoyable for the average person to consume, to reach patients anytime, anyplace.”
ShareWIK, which was founded by award-winning journalist, Diana Keough, has produced and distributed a library of over 600 videos that feature stories of individual patients and caregivers and their personal experiences with a wide range of health conditions. ShareWIK is unique because its team of writers has experience in both print and broadcast health care reporting. This knowledge of the health care industry and passion for storytelling is leveraged to produce non-clinical, short-form and highly entertaining videos. Existing ShareWIK content will complement StayWell’s existing library of medically reviewed patient education materials that address a variety of health conditions and procedures.
“You can’t educate or inspire someone to change their mindset or behavior if you don’t first engage them,” said Diana Keough, CEO, founder and editor in chief of ShareWIK Media Group. “Our team has decades of experience crafting stories that drive people to engage with topics they normally wouldn’t and that make complicated concepts simple and approachable.”
Lawson noted that there is a broader industry need to improve outcomes outside of the clinic and hospital setting, which the ShareWIK content and capabilities will allow StayWell to address, while continuing to offer turnkey solutions that meet the content needs of clinical organizations.
According to Keough, in addition to the existing library of videos, ShareWIK produces custom content geared toward an organization’s specific patient-provider journey.
“StayWell clients will now have access to new capabilities, including custom content production services, 3-D, 2-D and 1-D animations, live event production, product videos, infographics, illustrations and motion graphics,” Keough said. “Our goal is to help solution providers, hospitals, payers and health care marketers tell their story and make high-tech solutions more high-touch.”
Pending completion of the acquisition, Keough will continue to lead the ShareWIK custom production services, which will operate as a subsidiary of StayWell. ShareWIK will remain in Atlanta, GA, and StayWell anticipates creating new jobs in the area in 2016.
